    Dr. Link, or "Chuck", the founding Executive Director of Iowa Cancer Research, has been instrumental in the spin-off of the organization from its hospital origins.      
    A native of Ohio, Dr. Link studied a combined major of chemistry and biology from 1977-1980 at the The United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO.  Dr. Link completed his undergraduate pre-med education in 1982, earning his B.A.at Stanford University.  In 1985 Dr. Link graduated with Honors from the Stanford University's School of Medicine in Palo Alto, California.
    Post graduation, Dr. Link completed a residency in Internal Medicine at the Univesity of California, San Francisco.  Since then, he has served in numous capacities as a clinician, scientist, educator and administrator.  Dr. Link served with the National Insitute of Health - National Cancer Institute, Iowa State Univesity, Human Gene Therapy Research Institute, Iowa Methodist Medical Center's Bone Marrow Transplant and Gene Therapy Unit, and Stoddard Cancer Research Institute.
    To date, Dr. Link has authored or co-authored has more than 90 peer-reviewed journal articles, as well as numerous book chapters, reviews and abstracts.

   Joe is the Administrative Director of the Foundation.  Joe became involved in cancer research 2001, when he joined the former Stoddard Cancer Research Institute.  Joe's position involves supporting staff with a variety of services, as well as working with funding agencies, organizations, and individuals who do business with the Foundation.
    Prior to research, Joe was the Radiology Supervisor at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.  Joe has worked in rural healthcare, and in long term care with people affected by Parkinson's and Alzheimer's diseases.
    Joe received his radiology certificate in 1983 from Iowa Methodist Medical Center's School of Radiologic Technology. He attended Des Moines Area Community College, earning two associate degrees in 1995 (Honors). He received his B.S. in Healthcare Management at Bellevue University in Papillion, Nebraska in 1997.  Joe finished his Masters in Business Administration at Upper Iowa University in 2001, with an emphasis in Organizational Development. 
   Joe resides in Urbandale, Iowa, with his wife Gwena and their two children Emily and Derek.
