Welcome!

Thanks for stopping by the Iowa Cancer Research Foundation Website.

We are a non-profit 501(c)3 Iowa corporation, located in Urbandale, Iowa, in the beautiful Aurora Business Park on the northwest corner of Metro Des Moines.  Our 4,000 square foot facility provides laboratory and office facilities for research aimed at developing new treatments for cancer.

Staff at ICRF enjoy close proximity and easy access by way of Interstates 80 and 35, major Metro throughfares, and the Des Moines International Airport.

Please take a few minutes to look around  and get to know us better.

What is it We "Do"?

The scientists and staff of Iowa Cancer Research Foundation carry out
research using techniques in molecular biology.  In other words, we study
the most inner workings of cancer and cancer cells, at the smallest scale possible.  Staff are engaged in the basic research that will hopefully lead to new treatments for cancer.

Another way of describing our work is termed "Translational Research".  This type of research seeks to move benchtop discoveries out of the lab, into clinical trials, and to the patient's bedside in the shortest time possible.   Much care is paid to safety and appropriate use of  new agents.

In addition to conducting experiments, our staff record their results and draw conclusions which are then submitted to scholarly journals for publication.  By sharing results, other scientists may learn from our experience, thereby moving the body of cancer knowledge forward.

At the right, Dr's. Unfer and Link conferring on an upcoming publication.
